Gasoline additives are necessary to improve fuel and your engine's overall performance. There are several types of additives that you can mix with your fuel, learn about them here.

A Little Bit About Gasoline Additives

Gasoline additives can offer many solutions to fuel delivery system problems. From reducing corrosion, to eliminating evaporation, and getting more out of your gas mileage. The right mix of fuel additives can help you reduce your oil change intervals in Queens County. What do you really know about your gasoline additive options?  Amsoil4liny brings you this post to help you learn a little bit more about what goes on in your fuel.

What Do Gasoline Additives Do?

The main function of gasoline additives is to modify the combustion process in order to reduce emissions and meet the EPA requirements. Additives reduce the rate in which fuel burns, reduce toxic emissions, stop and prevent corrosion, and prevent (or clean) the formation of deposits in the fuel system.

Don’t Believe in All-In One Products

Additives can help you reduce your vehicle’s fuel intake and prolong the oil change intervals. In order for them to work they need to be used in the correct quantities and combination. Many different gasoline additives are necessary to protect your fuel and your engine and you can’t expect one product to do it all.  When it comes to choosing the type of additives you need, you have to really think which qualities are the most important to you. You can’t expect to find a product that performs magnificently at a very low price using only a small quantity.  Don’t trust all-in one products, they won’t deliver the results you need. If you’re looking for great quality additives that will deliver what they promise try AMSOIL’s additive line. For instance P.i. Performance Improver Gasoline Additive can help you reduce fuel expenses by improving your fuel mileage and avoiding the need to purchase more expensive higher octane fuel in Queens County. For more savings, learn about how a synthetic oil change can help you reduce your fuel intake. Types of Fuel Additives

Gasoline Stabilizers: Everyday vehicles don’t have enough time to lose gasoline’s volatility because they’re used in a daily basis. The loss of gasoline volatility is a problem for seasonal-vehicles such as boats, RVs, lawn mowers, etc. As time passes fuel and volatile compounds separate and evaporate into the atmosphere. The reduced volatility causes the fuel to burn inefficiently.  Gasoline stabilizers are necessary to keep fuel from evaporating into the atmosphere while vehicles are left in storage, as a result hard-starts are prevented. Many gasoline stabilizers, like AMSOIL's Gasoline Stabilizer, also come with corrosion inhibitors. Fuel Injector Cleaners: Your fuel injectors are bound to get clogged eventually. You’ll be able to tell that your fuel injector nozzles  are being blocked by carbon deposits, if your car has frequent hard starts, slow acceleration, and poor cold-engine performance. There are many additive options to reduce clogging. Cheaper additives will only prevent the blockage, the more high-end versions can also remove carbon deposits from valves, pistons, and cylinders. AMSOIL’s P.i. Performance Improver Gasoline Additive is one of the versions that will protect and clean. Octane Boosters: The proper octane level is important for your engine’s protection.  Octane boosters are added to gasoline to increase the octane rating and lubricate the engine valve seats. Most of the time these boosters come with a valve seat lubricant to reduce engine wear in cars, such as antique and collectible cars that come equipped with cast-iron valve seats. Fuel-Line Antifreeze: Water condensation has a way of sneaking almost everywhere, including your gas tank. During really cold months that condensation can freeze up in the fuel line. To prevent this from happening, an alcohol-based antifreeze mixed in with water is required. The fuel line antifreeze can sometimes absorb the water and transport it through the engine so it will be released through the exhaust stream as vapor. Anti-Gelling Additives:  These additives are used to liquefy paraffin wax that solidifies under sub-freezing temperatures and clogs diesel fuel filters. Modern diesels have heated fuel lines and filters to prevent this gelling from happening, but anti-gelling additives might still be needed to improve cold-starts.
